On my rooftop garden, there are five city benches still waiting for a nameplate. Your Gappie could be one of the five lucky ones to be honored on one of these benches.
How can you nominate someone?

Who can be nominated?
Anyone can be nominated: your favorite colleague, your mom or dad, your brother or sister, a friend, your partner, your fiancé, your husband or wife, your grandpa or grandma, your favorite bus driver, your favorite teacher — you name it! The only requirement is that they are currently living in the Netherlands.
An ode to Amsterdam’s city bench
The Amsterdam city benches are iconic places of meeting and connection, where neighbors, travelers, friends, and passersby come together. They symbolize that everyday, unmistakable Mokum feeling. That is exactly why I placed city benches on my rooftop, as an ode to Mokum and to human connection.
Celebrate Mokum and friendship on GAPP
My rooftop terrace is located on the 8th floor of Hotel Casa in Amsterdam East. CASA was founded with a forward‑thinking idea: to give students an inspiring place to live, where learning, meeting others, and forming friendships happens naturally. These ideals continue to live on at GAPP.
Gabbe Scheltema, one of the founders of Hotel Casa, inspired GAPP - my rooftop terrace. GAPP is a place where people come together, where new friendships are made, and where the spirit of Amsterdam is celebrated.
